On My Thrift Store Shopping List: Maxi Skirts

I loooove wearing long skirts and dresses.  Not only are they comfortable, but you don’t have to worry about flashing anyone either!  Luckily, maxi skirts are easy to find at the thrift store.

Here is some maxi skirt inspiration.  These are all from shopbop.com and range in price from about $100 to $300.

These are the 2 long skirts I found at the thrift store this week.  I got a long black lace one and a floral one for about 10 bucks!

P.S. In case you are interested, Refinery29 has tips on how to style maxi skirts here.

Refashion: Pink Sweater + Eyelet

= this girly little number.  I found this pink J. Crew sleeveless sweater the other day at the thrift store for only $3, then added eyelet trim to the neck and armholes.  I have always loved eyelet – and if it is ruffled, even better!

refashion: t-shirt + lace

This was actually a really easy refashion.  All you need is a t-shirt and some lace.  I used stretch lace, although I didn’t really have to.  As long as the armhole and sleeve are big enough that you don’t need them to stretch, you can use regular non-stretchy lace.

This is the before:

I removed the sleeves and the pocket and used them as my actual pattern pieces.  I then just re-made the sleeves & pocket out of the lace.

Here is the after:

DIY T-Shirt Refashion

The total cost was about $5.  The t-shirt was $2 from the thrift store and the lace was about $3.

P.S.  I will have a tutorial for the last refashion (the top with the elastic waist) up on my blog soon!

On My Thrift Store Shopping List: Sequins

I think every thrift store has something sequined in it at any given time, which means this sparkly trend is super easy to embrace without breaking the bank.  I just found this vintage sequined sweater for $9!

On My Thrift Store Shopping List: Fringe

It seems like there are so many trends right now that can easily be found at thrift stores.  One of them is fringe.  I have been wanting some fringey items, but if I am going to spend a lot of money on something, I would rather it be for something classic that will last for many seasons.  SO I added fringey things to my mental thrift store shopping list and was super excited to find 2 leather fringed purses.  I also saw an awesome leather jacket with fringe, but since I live in Miami and would pretty much never wear it, I resisted the urge to buy it.

Here is some of my fringey inspiration:

Fringed Bags

1.  Sunlit Fringe Bag from Anthro – on sale for $139.95 (was $278)

2.   Gypsy Suede Fringed Cross-Body from Banana Republic – $230

3.  Minnetonka 3-Layer Fringe Boots from Zappos - $98

4. American Retro Fringed Dress from the Outnet - on sale for $124 (was $310)

5.  Linea Pelle Suede Fringe Coin Purse from ShopBop - $60

Here are my thrifted fringe purses.  One was $7 and one was $9! I love thrifting – It is like treasure hunting.
