Daisy prints were featured in several resort/spring 2012 collections. Some were bright and bold, others more on the muted side.
Here is some of my inspiration for today’s fabric finds:

A reader left a comment the other day saying that she was looking for fabric similar to Stella McCartney’s citrus print. As it turns out, several designers featured fruit prints in their Spring 2011 collections. Although I didn’t find anything resembling Stella’s, I still found plenty of yummy looking fabrics. I think one of the oilcloth fabrics would make a super cute beach bag.

1. Oranges Oilcloth from The Fabric Farm
2. Yellow Apples Japanese Cotton Canvas from Stefanie Style
3. Early Bird Cherries fabric from Voodoo Rabbit
4. Pears & Apples Oilcloth from The Fabric Farm
5. Pear & Floral Oilcloth from Glamour Stitch
6. Retro Lemon Fabric from Cyber Fabric
7. Citrus Scrub Fabric from Sew Fresh Fabrics
8. Cherry Oilcoth from Warm and Sunny
I like to get ideas before fabric shopping because I tend to get overwhelmed ….so I thought it would be kinda fun to take some inpiration from the runway and see what I could find. The D&G Spring 2011 collection had tons of fun colors, floral prints, gingham, lace and denim, all of which I love. I’m not planning on trying to recreate their outfits or anything, but maybe I will make something else using similar fabric combinations.

2. Pink Rose Liberty of London fabric from The Top Drawer
3. Vintage Salmon & Blue Tulip Cotton Fabric from Zinnia Snip Snap

Have you noticed all the sequins everywhere? I especially love this sequin bag from Anthropologie:

I was a little skeptical about the this season’s whole tie-dye trend. It kind of reminds me of summer camp art class. However, I have to say that tie-dye has actually started to grow on me. A lot of designers have really made it look modern.
I have my eye on this tie-dyed bag from Anthropologie:

Of course, tie dyeing is a great DIY project, but if you don’t feel like making a big mess, you can always just buy some already tie-dyed fabrics. I found some really unique traditional African tie dye fabrics over at Ananse Village. According to their site, they are a member of the Fair Trade Federation and a portion of the profits helps provide medical care & educational opportunities to the communities they work with.
Here are a few of the tie-dye fabrics they have for sale:
