On My Thrift Store Shopping List: Maxi Skirts

I loooove wearing long skirts and dresses.  Not only are they comfortable, but you don’t have to worry about flashing anyone either!  Luckily, maxi skirts are easy to find at the thrift store.

Here is some maxi skirt inspiration.  These are all from shopbop.com and range in price from about $100 to $300.

These are the 2 long skirts I found at the thrift store this week.  I got a long black lace one and a floral one for about 10 bucks!

P.S. In case you are interested, Refinery29 has tips on how to style maxi skirts here.

“Granny Chic” Cardigan Refashion

I just wanted to share this super easy refashion.  All I did was add lace appliques to a thrifted J. Crew cardigan to give it that vintagey look I love so much.  I sewed the appliques by machine using a narrow zig zag stitch (in case anyone is wondering).  Happy Friday!

refashion: t-shirt + lace

This was actually a really easy refashion.  All you need is a t-shirt and some lace.  I used stretch lace, although I didn’t really have to.  As long as the armhole and sleeve are big enough that you don’t need them to stretch, you can use regular non-stretchy lace.

This is the before:

T-Shirt Before

I removed the sleeves and the pocket and used them as my actual pattern pieces.  I then just re-made the sleeves & pocket out of the lace.

Here is the after:

DIY T-Shirt Refashion

The total cost was about $5.  The t-shirt was $2 from the thrift store and the lace was about $3.

P.S.  I will have a tutorial for the last refashion (the top with the elastic waist) up on my blog soon!

Creative Cut Outs

I love Steven Allan’s take on the cut out trend.  The Fall Roxanne Top features cut out details at the neckline.
