Just wanted to let everyone know that I am having a pattern sale exclusively on my etsy site (3 patterns for $9.50). Happy spring!
The Carried Away Messenger Bag is a fold over style bag with a zipper closure. It has 2 open exterior pockets and 2 open interior pockets. The tutorial includes lots of pictures, full size pattern pieces and easy instructions for installing the zipper. You can find this sewing pattern on alifosterpatterns.com and in my etsy shop. Daisy prints were featured in several resort/spring 2012 collections. Some were bright and bold, others more on the muted side. Here is some of my inspiration for today’s fabric finds:

I was able to find lots of quilting-weight cottons featuring daisy prints. There are also several vintage retro floral fabrics on etsy as well. Here are few of my favorites: 1. Timeless Treasures Daisy Fabric from Josie Mart I am a big fan of the Southwestern-inspired designs that are so popular right now – I am especially in love with Pendleton’s Portland Collection! I really want to make something - probably a bag
1. Joi Geometric Navajo Varia Cardigan from Revolve Clothing Here are a few of my fabric finds. I would really like to get the Pendleton fabric, but it is $76 per yard! A girl can dream..
I loooove wearing long skirts and dresses. Not only are they comfortable, but you don’t have to worry about flashing anyone either! Luckily, maxi skirts are easy to find at the thrift store. Here is some maxi skirt inspiration. These are all from shopbop.com and range in price from about $100 to $300.
These are the 2 long skirts I found at the thrift store this week. I got a long black lace one and a floral one for about 10 bucks!
P.S. In case you are interested, Refinery29 has tips on how to style maxi skirts here. I just wanted to share this super easy refashion. All I did was add lace appliques to a thrifted J. Crew cardigan to give it that vintagey look I love so much. I sewed the appliques by machine using a narrow zig zag stitch (in case anyone is wondering). Happy Friday! This is the before:
And this is the after:
I am totally loving all the bow-embellished tops out there right now. This refashion was a little tedious because I did the sewing by hand, but was still easy and fun. I started with this thrifted long sleeve t-shirt:
I cut the sleeves off and used that fabric to make the bows. First I cut a strip of fabric measuring about 8″ x 2-1/4″.
I folded the ends of the strip in toward the center, overlapping them a little. I then hand basted down the center.
I gathered the fabric at the center by sliding the fabric along the thread. I then wrapped the thread around the center several times and tied it off.
I cut a small rectangle of fabric, wrapped it around the center and hand stitched it in place at the back of the bow.
After repeating the above steps a bunch of times, I arranged the bows on my t-shirt and hand stitched them in place. That’s it!
